Use the checklist

Prepare to explore an oncology research network

A research-network membership invitation is different from clinical care. Use this worksheet to clarify what participation involves before supplying professional details or making assumptions about access.

Checklist

  1. Identify the network's stated research area and the type of membership described. Ask about eligibility, activities and whether participation is individual or linked to an institution.

  2. Clarify expectations for meetings, projects, data and authorship. Any work involving patient information needs the appropriate institutional and ethical processes; a membership form does not establish those permissions.

  3. Request current terms and discuss proposed involvement through your own organisation where relevant. Keep questions about a person's treatment with the qualified clinical team responsible for their care.

Questions and answers

Does membership provide research access automatically?

Ask what is actually included and which approvals remain separate. A network introduction may lead to collaboration, but it does not by itself authorise use of data, participation in a study or representation of an institution.
