A worksheet for evaluating neighbourhood quality-of-life proposals
A neighbourhood proposal may affect residents in different ways. A common reading sheet helps compare its stated aims, supporting information and unanswered questions.
Work through the checklist
Describe the proposal, area and decision stage. Record who prepared it and distinguish a suggestion from an approved project.
List the groups likely to be affected and the evidence used to describe their needs. Ask how housing, access, transport and shared space are considered.
Note the public feedback route, decision date and measures proposed for evaluating results. Keep your own priorities separate from claims about what all residents want.
A useful question
Can one survey represent an entire neighbourhood?
Check who was invited, who responded and what limitations are reported. A useful survey can still leave important voices or questions unrepresented.
