A practical checklist for an independent film casting call

A practical checklist for an independent film casting call

A casting notice should explain enough for you to decide whether an audition is appropriate. Use these questions to review the opportunity and prepare responsibly.

Work through the checklist

  1. Record the production, role, intended use and filming dates. Check payment terms, location, age requirements and the identity of the casting contact.

  2. Prepare only the requested materials. Avoid sending sensitive identity documents or paying an unexplained fee merely to be considered.

  3. Ask about contracts, permissions, safeguarding and accessibility. Keep audition arrangements and any agreed use of your recording in writing.

A useful question

What if the notice is incomplete?

Ask for the missing production and role details before committing time or sharing material. A vague announcement is not a complete offer.
