A fairytale framework for a small creative project

A fairytale framework for a small creative project

A familiar story structure can help generate ideas without prescribing a personal transformation. Use this prompt to outline a fictional character and a manageable creative experiment.

Work through the checklist

  1. Invent a character who wants something concrete. Give them a setting, an obstacle and a resource they have not yet learned to use.

  2. Sketch three moments: a departure, a difficult choice and a return with something changed. Avoid borrowing protected characters or copying an existing story's wording.

  3. Choose one scene to draw, write or storyboard. Review what interests you and decide a small next step rather than promising a complete project immediately.

A useful question

Does the story need to represent my life?

No. You may keep it entirely fictional. The framework is a creative device, not a diagnosis or a claim about personal destiny.
