Questions for an integrative medicine consultation
An integrative medicine description may include several kinds of practice. Ask for a specific account of the proposed service and how it relates to your existing care.
Work through the checklist
Verify the practitioner's relevant registration and qualifications. Ask which parts of the consultation are assessment, education or a proposed treatment.
Request evidence for each claimed benefit, including uncertainties and possible harms. Discuss medicines, supplements and ongoing treatment with an appropriately qualified clinician.
Clarify charges, consent, records and referral arrangements. Do not stop prescribed care because of a promotional description or introductory offer.
A useful question
How should I evaluate a broad wellbeing promise?
Ask for a precise claim, its supporting evidence and how suitability would be assessed for you. General marketing language cannot answer those questions.
