A fantasy football news evaluation sheet

A fantasy football news evaluation sheet

A player update can affect a fantasy decision without settling it. Keep news, interpretation and league rules separate when reviewing a podcast or written analysis.

Work through the checklist

  1. Record the player, publication time and the original source of the news. Separate confirmed participation information from speculation about future usage.

  2. Add your league's scoring rules, roster format and decision deadline. An argument for one format may not apply to another.

  3. Write two possible interpretations and what further information would change your view. Recheck late news through the relevant official source before any deadline.

A useful question

Are old mock drafts still useful?

They can illustrate draft strategy and assumptions. They do not establish current player status, availability or likely performance.

Make an assumption log

Create columns for confirmed news, expected role, scoring effect and uncertainty. A change in one column does not automatically settle the others. For example, a report that a player returned to practice is different from a confirmed game role. Write the information you would need before changing your view. Keep the original timestamp so that a later update can be compared fairly, and avoid describing an earlier assessment as certain after the result is known.
