Planning participation in a community fundraiser

Planning participation in a community fundraiser

A fundraiser can offer volunteering, attendance or a donation route. Clarify which form of participation suits you and what the organiser needs.

Work through the checklist

  1. Check the event date, purpose and responsible organisation. Ask how the activity supports its work and what information about funds is available.

  2. For volunteering, agree duties, supervision, access needs and handling of money or personal information. Do not assume informal helpers can access service-user records.

  3. Confirm tickets, payments and cancellation terms through the authorised organiser. Keep donor and participant information private.

A useful question

Does attending mean I receive counselling or another service?

No. A fundraising event and access to a professional service are separate. Ask the organisation about its current service process independently.
