Preparing for a screen-printing workshop
A screen-printing session can involve design, materials and several practical stages. Ask what you will actually do so you can prepare an appropriate idea.
Work through the checklist
Check the workshop level, printing method and materials supplied. Ask about ventilation, protective equipment and any age or supervision requirements.
Bring a simple original design if requested. Use only artwork you created or have permission to reproduce, and ask about size and colour limits.
Confirm drying, cleanup and transport arrangements for finished work. After the session, record one technique and one question for further practice.
A useful question
Will every design work in a first workshop?
Not necessarily. Fine details, colour layers and materials can introduce constraints. Ask the instructor to help adapt the idea to the session's scope.
Make a design-preparation note
Write the intended print size, material and number of colours, leaving anything not yet confirmed as a question for the instructor. Sketch a version with fewer details so you can discuss adaptations without losing the main idea. Keep a record of whose artwork and lettering you use. The aim is to arrive with an adjustable brief, rather than a design that requires equipment, permissions or time outside the workshop's scope.
